Organized by SIGDSS, the purpose of this annual workshop is to explore issues surrounding the design and use of Decision Support Systems. The workshop provides a forum for presentation and discussion of research regarding systems that support managerial decision-making. This includes the design, history, theory, practice, methods and techniques, new developments, and applications of computing technologies to support decision processes and decision-making by individuals, groups, and organizations.

The abundance of information available to today’s managers makes it essential to efficiently represent, filter, and present information for effective decision making. The rapid advances in hardware and software development have made it possible to discover patterns in data and present that knowledge visually from multiple perspectives. However, the challenge is to identify relevant and important information enhance organizational decision making. The analysis and graphical presentation of information applies to a variety of topics, including (but not limited to):
- Data modeling
- Interface design
Data and text mining
Data warehousing
Data quality
Geographic information systems
Applications of business intelligence
Format of Submissions
Both in-progress and completed research papers are welcome. Submissions will
be double-blind peer reviewed. People who submit to the workshop may be asked to
review one or two papers.
In-progress submissions should be no more than seven double-spaced pages (using
Times Roman, 12 point font). Completed research should be no more than fifteen
double-spaced pages. Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) is preferred). The
author must remove all author information from the submitted document. The
specified lengths do not include the abstract, references, and figures.
Authors should submit their papers via email to the workshop chairs (Karen
Corral and David Schuff) by Monday, September 1, 2005. The email should include
all author information (with their affiliations), along with the contact
information for the corresponding author. Authors will receive a confirmation of
receipt of their paper upon submission.
The program committee will notify the corresponding author of the decision
regarding their paper by Monday, October 17, 2005. This will give the authors
time to register before early registration for ICIS ends.
Cooperative Agreement with the Journal of the AIS
The Journal of the AIS (JAIS) is one of the premier outlets for MIS research. Selected papers presented at the workshop will be chosen, based on reviewers' feedback and the input of the workshop chairs and the JAIS Editor-in-Chief) for further review and potential submission to JAIS.
Papers presented at the workshop will be considered to be "preliminary"
versions and may require significant revision before submission to JAIS.
Papers selected for submission will receive "fast-track" status during the review process.
You can register for the workshop when you register for ICIS. The workshop registration fee is $125 and includes two coffee breaks and lunch. The late registration fee is $150. The early and late registration dates will follow the regular ICIS registration timeline. The ICIS registration site is http://icis2005.unlv.edu/registration.htm.
