MS in MIS
The Master of Science in Management
Information Systems (MS in MIS) is part of the nationally recognized Fox School of
Business and Management Techno-Graduate programs that provide an in-depth knowledge of
information systems. The MS in MIS will develop information technology (IT)
professionals who can manage, lead, develop, and evaluate organizational information
systems. The MS in MIS requires 10 courses: 4 core MIS courses, 5 electives and
seminars, and a capstone course.
Typical career options for students
graduating from this program include: System Analyst, Project Manager, System Architect,
Database and Knowledge manager, System Designer, Application Developer, Chief Information
Officer (CIO), and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

MBA in Information Technology Management
The MBA concentration in Information Technology Management is for managers
and executives who desire a thorough understanding of information systems and how those systems impact business planning

PhD in MIS
The PhD in Management Information Systems (PhD in MIS) is a fulltime
program that prepares individuals for academic research careers. The
PhD in MIS focuses on the managerial and development issues surrounding
information systems. The program is the only independent PhD in MIS
in the region and one of the first in the nation to formally follow
a multi-method and integrated approach, and incorporate the application
of quantitative, qualitative, and prototyping methods. The program
is multidisciplinary and integrates information technology with strategy,
organizational behavior, business/application domain processes, and
other disciplines relating to business organizations and government.

The PhD in MIS prepares individuals for academic research careers.
- What is the average time of completion?
The average time of completion is four years or more depending on
your personal situation.
Curriculum
- I am a continuing or transfer student and have taken courses
at another university equivalent to those offered by the MIS Department,
do I still have to take these courses?
If you have taken courses at another university and believe
that they are equivalent to those in your new program you can complete
a MIS Petition/Exception
Form. The contents of the form will be sent to Joseph Allegra,
MIS Senior Program Specialist, who will research your issue and get back
to you.

Each
business student is assigned an advisor depending on their last name.
Full time
or Part-time MBA/MS students
whose last names begins with A-L are assigned to
graduate advisor,

graduation requirements.

What do I do if a course I need is closed?
Sometimes courses become full and as a result are closed
prohibiting any more students to register. If this happens the
MIS department offers a Waiting List. In the event that a spot
opens (e.g. a student drops the course, class size is increased)
you will be notified via email and you can elect to be
automatically registered for the course.
Financial Aid

What financial aid is available?
Financial aid in the form of scholarships, awards, and assistantships
is available to MIS and E-Business students from several different
sources. You can obtain financial support from within the university
or from outside.

Graduate Assistantships (GA)
Graduate Assistantships are awarded to students enrolled
full-time and not working elsewhere. This assistantship carries
teaching and/or research responsibilities. They include a full
tuition remission and a stipend of approximately $11,000 per
year. Assistantships require 20 hours per week.

several scholarship opportunities through the
Institute for Business and Information Technology for incoming students and continuing students.

do I apply?
You may apply on-line, by downloading the application, or by
requesting a paper copy. Applications received or completed after
the deadlines will be considered on a space available basis.

- The
Graduate Career Management Center
(GCMC) is dedicated to
the needs of Fox graduate students. The Center provides assistance
in focusing and preparing for both summer internships and post-MBA
careers and provides opportunities for students to network, meet

corporate stakeholders to provide opportunities to connect with
